Highlife performer Yaw Stone, who was the victor of TV3’s Mentor VI in 2012, has said that he has not seen any better Highlife artist designated at the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards(VGMA) over the most recent eight years.

In a meeting with Tony Best on Akoma FM’s Kwantenpon Drive on Thursday, Yaw Stone stated that a great deal of Ghanaian artists have gotten on board with the temporary fad of Afro Beats but then case to be Highlife performers.

“Taking everything into account, a proviso has been made and that has given space for the sorts of melodies the public sees as Highlife.”

As per Yaw Stone, aside from himself, Dada Hafco, Kumi Guitar, Bisa Kdei and a couple of others, a great deal of the current yield of performers regarded as Highlife artists are not in the least, not even Kuami Eugene, who is the current VGMA Artiste of the Year.

“Kuami Eugene isn’t a Highlife performer since he considers himself a ‘Rockstar’.”

Despite the fact that Yaw Stone accepts there are still generally excellent Highlife performers in Ghana, the flood of famous kinds like Dancehall and Afro Beats have truly affected the development of Highlife as of late.
