Ophelia Hayford Is Now Mfantseman Parliamentary Candidate

Ophelia Hayford, the principal spouse of the late Ekow Quansah Hayford, is currently the NPP parliamentary candidate for Mfantseman.

The choice was taken at the NPP’s National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting hung on Sunday, October 18, as per Article 12 of the gathering’s constitution.

The NEC expressed that the gathering had conferences with all partners of the gathering just as constituents of Mfantseman before Ophelia Hayford, who had prior surrendered as a cop, was selected.

In an announcement marked by John Boadu, the gathering’s General Secretary, Ophelia Hayford, the primary spouse of the late MP who was slaughtered by obscure aggressors, was portrayed as having “been a solid column in the political existence of her late husband, and unquestionably, her choice as his substitution must be a positive development”.

The NPP had before formally advised the Electoral Commission of the passing of Ekow Quansah Hayford, for MP for Mfantseman who was re-challenging for them and mentioned for a 10-day augmentation of the assignment time frame in accordance with Section 13(4) of C.I. 127 which administers the December 2020 races.

On the off chance that Ophelia Hayford is chosen on December 7, she will be the third spouse of a MP who has succeeded the husband after his end, at any rate throughout the entire existence of Ghana’s fourth republic.

Before, Linda Obenewaa Akweley Ocloo, was chosen by the resistance National Democratic Congress (NDC) to venture into the shoes of her late spouse, Desmond William Ocloo who was then a parliamentary possibility for Shai Osudoku.

Lydia Seyram Alhassan, the MP for Ayawaso West Wuogon in Accra, through a by-political race, succeeded her late spouse Emmanuel Kyeremateng Agyarko who passed on as a sitting MP.

With just half a month to the December by-political decision, Parliament has reported that there will be no by-political race in Mfantseman.

It, along these lines, is not yet clear the political maneuverings of the two significant gatherings to win the Mfantseman seat which can go in any case.
